A wedding is one of the greatest moments in a person's life. Everything should be perfect for the bride, groom and guests. By holding your wedding in the cradle of Norwegian national romanticism, Sognefjord and Hotel Tørvis, we dare promise a wedding in exceptionally beautiful natural surroundings at a hotel which is willing to do everything to make your day fantastic.

We have two different banqueting rooms that are side-by-side, one large and one small. We are able to open the wall that divides these if there will be more than 100 people dining. For example, children and youngsters can be placed in the smaller room. We also have a number of cozy sitting rooms; two have fireplaces. There is an outside terrace the length of the hotel, and a large and comfortable garden facing the fjord.

Our classic boat can transport up to 48 people from the church to the hotel, or maybe the wedding guests would like to take a boat trip while the bride and groom are being photographed. If the bridal couple wishes a royal accommodation, our Prince's Suite is available in the venerable old Munthe Villa, a romantic hideaway to escape to after the wedding reception.

 

A sample wedding program:

  • 1 pm: Wedding ceremony at Dale Church or Urnes Stave Church (the ceremony may also be held in the hotel garden)

  • 1.45 pm: Bridal couple go to be photographed

  • 3.30 pm: The bridal couple arrive at the hotel by car or boat, and a toast is raised for the newly-weds using champagne cooled in glacial ice

  • 4 pm: Four-course wedding meal in the banquet hall.

 

Four-course menu example:

Cream of shellfish soup with Sognefjord Norwegian lobster

Skin-fried Sognefjord halibut filet with bacon and soya gravy, French lentils and vegetables boiled in white wine

Braised pork and veal filet with broiled asparagus, braised mushrooms, Jerusalem artichoke purée and apple cider sauce

Heavenly cream pudding flavored with milk chocolate and raspberries from Luster

 

  • 8 pm: Coffee and cognac in a sitting room with fireplace

  • 9 pm: Wedding dance

  • 10 pm: Cake table and coffee served

  • 10 pm: Bar, music and dancing continue

  • 12 pm: Midnight snack

  • XXXX: The bridal couple escapes to the Prince's Suite at Munthe Villa

  • 2 am: The bar closes (last service at 01:30)

  • Next morning – Breakfast/brunch for wedding group, including guests who stayed the night at the hotel
